Bring a little 1997 to 2010. Sign Slap Upside The Head’s relatively new guestbook! It will bring eternal happiness to your life, I promise.

The fine print: I do not promise that signing the guestbook will bring eternal happiness to your life. Entries are held in a moderation queue for spam checking. And remember kids, this is a guestbook. Story ideas, opinions on recent articles, ongoing discussions, fake authors, and people who don’t mention where they’re visiting from make very silly guestbook entries.

    Hey, I’m Claire.

As a lesbian teen, I have been faced with many issues as to acceptance, and it’s nice to see what’s happening- especially the way you make your entries humorous, somewhat taking the bite of negative news away. You are an inspiration to every open-hearted person endeavoring to remove such evils from our society.

Continue taking such things with grace and brilliance,
    Claire

  2. Justin Donovan says:

This site slapped me on the head! What a great find. I’ve spent most of the morning reading archives and plan to continue reading new blogs.
I’m gay and I live in a very small town in North Carolina, US called Ramseur. I kinda feel alone but I am out, and no one really has any qualms with it.
Mark, keep up the good work, my friend. You keep us all well-informed, even stories and news I didn’t even know about!

    -Justin, Ramseur, NC

  3. Sam says:

I found a photo from your site using the google images search, and I was ever so pleased to find out it belonged to a website with which I could make nearly all of my friends a fan of.
(You see nearly all are homosexual and of course, very much so into gay rights.)
Congratulations for being so very well versed when describing homosexual news in a way that doesn’t insult the pants off of most people.
(I live in EASTERN, KENTUCKY… In the U.S.A.)

    -Sam

  4. Dana says:

Hi, just found your site because of a Google images search(…). I love your artwork, and agree completely with your opinions. While I myself am not gay, many dear friends and family are, so I appreciate your humor, and opinions. Keep it up! Oh, and happy (belated) birthday!

    ~Dana, from Denver, CO, USA

  5. Hia, I’m Ben, 14, uk and gay. Just wanted to say that this site is awsome and keep up the good work!

Hello! I found Slap just a few days ago and it’s now one of my favorite websites. Congratulations on hitting the four-year mark! I’m thirteen years old and lesbian writing from Seattle, Washington.

I have a website where I do a kind of a LGBT blog, kind of like Slap except not funny and badly written and I don’t update as much as I should. XD I will be sure to mention Slap the next time I remember to post something. :D

  7. I was very excited to stumble upon Slap, I’m very impressed (and laughing hysterically)!

    Four more years! =D

  8. Four years, hey? Congratulations! Your work is ever brilliant.

    TRiG.

  9. Paul Raposo says:

Congrats on four years of slaps, Mark! Not since Moe Howard, has anyone unleased such a flurry of well deserved slaps 8^)

  10. Dino says:

Happy birthday and keep on slappin’!

  11. Matt says:

It’s nice that somebody has taken the time to speak against the prejudice. Things in America are anything but “Hunky dory” for the gay community. I have a friend who was going to marry his boyfriend and because of our Government he’s not allowed to. Thanks for speaking for people who are in his shoes. :)

  12. lesmom says:

I am enjoying the blogging and the delightful art, thanks for taking the time to do what you do. It’s nice to feel that on-line sense of community and read about our community.
    Thanks.
Chris (a queer mom from Calgary)

    P.S
fun fact, did you know that Calgary has the highest rate of hate crimes of any where in Canada?

  13. Jeanie13 says:

Slap – adoring this blog!! Just lost two hours reading archives instead of writing my paper but completely worth it! Love the satire, love the art and although I don’t identify as homosexual, I can at least appreciate, although perhaps not understand, the frustrations of an ignorant world behind the comments! It only saddens me that there are so many incidents for you to talk about! But perhaps if we all keep talking that will change one day!!

Losing hours in your blog in Edmonton, AB!!

  14. Dude says:

I agree with backseat blogger. Turning on a comments section to posts or even a forum would be wonderful. It’s nice hearing from others who are gay or support their gay peers, without having to deal with the nastiness of those who find little to do but hate.

  15. I love the blog. I love the slaps. I love the art.

My only criticism is that you should turn on commenting. There’s lots of thoughtful comments made in the guestbook that stay lost there.

    that’s unfortunate.

So says this blogger from sunny Vancouver!

  16. I enjoyed reading your most recent post, and I want to mention I’m one of the many gay teens harassed on the internet. Do you please know a site where bisexual boys like me are able to chat freely without being called a slur? Please, I’m so tired of being called a “fag”…:’(

  17. Troy Jackson says:

Slap! Love it! I grew up in Truro. I am currently living in Toronto. I am a Queer performer. I just put out my second music video for track no. 6 from my recently released Ep “Cd of Troy”. Track 6 is titled “The Batty Boys Revenge” it is a my pop re-evoloution track speaking out against homophobic violence world wide. I was inspired by the Stop Murder Music Canada campaign which speaks out against homophobic dance hall music.

  20. Alana Whims says:

Hello, Mr. Mark and Marky, my name is Alana and I’m a bisexual teenage girl living in boring, old Oxford, Michigan, U.S.

I’m very impressed with the way you comment on current events. I may not be Canadian but before I found your site, I thought that the U.S was the worst country to be LGBT in, but I seem to be wrong.

I stumbled upon this site while doing research for a persuasion speech about Homophobia I’m doing for my Speech class and I must say that I’m impressed with both your reporting skills and illustrations. You give a much needed voice to issues many people will sweep under the rug, such as the ban on gays donating their blood and organs, because untill they are faced with that situation they could care less.

Once again, Congratulations on being so suceesful in many countries world wide and I hope it stays that way.

    Seriously Impressed and Majorly Impressed,

Alana Whims, stuck in one of the most homophobic towns in Oakland County, Michigan.
