Bring a little 1997 to 2010. Sign Slap Upside The Head’s relatively new guestbook! It will bring eternal happiness to your life, I promise.
The fine print: I do not promise that signing the guestbook will bring eternal happiness to your life. Entries are held in a moderation queue for spam checking. And remember kids, this is a guestbook, not a contact form. Story ideas, opinions on recent articles, ongoing discussions, fake authors, and people who don’t mention where they’re visiting from make very silly guestbook entries.
Happy (or not, if you win the “lottery”) Victoria’s day, Mark!
Hi! I’m a high school student in Florida who stumbled upon this website whilst researching a project on gay marriage rights. I used many stories from this site and tons of the comics! Now all of my friends love the site too. This is probably my favorite new website to read.

Hello!
I’m a nineteen year old bisexual guy from the greater Toronto area, and I just wanted to say this is great! I randomly found this by looking up Victoria Day (Of all things!) and I couldn’t help but fall in love with it, and will now viciously cling to this for all the news I need that I would otherwise most likely miss.
Greetings and love from your neighbor!
~Sean
Hey,
I’m an Eighteen-year-old second year uni student from Brisbane, Australia. I have rather enjoyed your blog, very insightful stuff indeed. In Australia the majority of our news is highly biased and alas, homophobic, pretty shameful and close-minded for a supposedly ‘friendly nation’ such as ours. So to read some form of media material that is so levelheaded and non-stereotyping is a huge relief and dare I say shock, so thanking you muchly! And keep up the great work.
Cheers,
Ryan, Brisbane, QLD, Australia.
Hello, I’m a 16 year old student in Canada. I just found the blog by doing a research topic on Homophobic injustice. I spotted a link to this blog as I was researching with various support sites. I am so happy that this blog spot existed for people like us. I really appreciate your blog, it has given me and others something to think about, and an ounce of laughter can be found in the irony of things.
-Thanks, Mike.
Hello, I am a 28 y old Lebanese gay man, found your site by chance while searching to read about gay stuff from around the world, and since then checking your entries has become like a delicacy I enjoy from time to time…it makes my day….and gives me hope. thanks
thank you so much, I’m nick, I’m a 15-year old gay christian, your website is fantastic, makes me laugh and think and want to rise up against bigotry, even though you poke fun at my religeon a bit, you do so in a tasteful way and usually you are critisizing officials, it’s very rare you insult God or Jesus directly, but thank you, you provide a great service and keep up the goodwork
all the way from Brisbane, Australia. yours faithfully, Nick
Your website really makes my day, consistently. I guess I just like getting the news that I’m interested in, from a source that doesn’t add “no homo” after every sentence. I’m still young and impressionable, and I don’t live with exactly a ton of affirmation in my life. (Just a side question, I’m not -really- the only teenage lesbian in northwestern America, right?) But, this is a little beacon of pink sparkly hope. Thank you for being gayer than gay, and making no apologies for it.
yay, i stumbled upon this blog by clicking a wrong link, i read the first line of an article, and i read some more. it was the happiest mistake i have made this month, i am referring all my friends to this site, and the url is easy to remember slapupsidethehead.com i love it ^_^ ROCK ON \m/ i am a gay teen boy from Las Vegas NV and i will be spreading this site throughout my LGBT center wooo :3
I’m a gay thirteen year old boy in Austin, Texas. I absolutely love your blog, even if I’m too much of a scatter brain to remember to check it every few days.
I love this website! I’m a lesbian in Texas- where EVERYTHING is bigger, even homophobia! :D I really enjoy reading about the hardships and progress of both the LGBT community and anti-LGBT community. Really glad I found this website and I hope you keep it up. I also love the art too, it brings the stories to life. Keep fighting bigotry the gayest- I mean the best way you can!
Errol
Hello hello! This site is amazing (and amazingly funny xD)
Awesome job, great cartoons.
Hugs from Norway =]
I’m doing a project on the Stonewall Riots for school, and this website has been a lot of help. Thanks!
Randomly found this sight going through Google pictures, and man, what a humorous pleasure to have someone like you. Great work, keep it up!
I just discovered the blog today, and I’ve fallen in love with it. The articles are very well written, and are perfectly accompanied by some hilarious political illustrations. Props to Mark, the author, for maintaining such a fantastic GLBT blog!
I stll love SlapUpsidetheHead, and I really like today’s article on hate crime.
Recently, my boyfriend was beaten up. I made him a lunch on Thursday and it had a note in it with hearts. Somebody found the note in his lunch, and later that day he was beaten in the bathroom by some of the school’s football players, for being gay. Those same Jocks were at the beach Saturday, and they kicked Aaron to the ground again. I beat the crap out of one of those jocks (probably NOT a good solution to that problem), and I’m really worried for Aaron’s safety. He has to go back to school today, and I don’t want Aaron to die. He’s a thin, delicate boy… can he press charges for hate crime?
Well, well,
I’m a 17 year-old student from Brazil, that was making any research for school (seminar on prejudice and discrimination) and bumped into your site, four or five articles read, and fell in love with it, I mean, they are written in a fun way, with irony (most don’t get it) and in an easy language, apart from the fact that they say so many truths, and talk about serious stuff… Well, I wanted just to congratulate you, and call you something like hero, but I think this text is already too long…
My compliments…
L.A.
Great artwork and some very hilarious insights!
Heya,
I’d just like to say thank you for compiling these stories every week. I’m a gay language student in the U.K. and I’ve spent my entire afternoon looking through your website for stories about gay marriage because I’m arguing for it in my A2 Spanish oral exam in a couple of weeks. This would have been really dull if there weren’t cartoons to look at on the way. I think everyone around me in the computer room thinks I’m crazy though because I keep laughing outloud.
Anyway, I’ve translated three articles into Spanish so far and I’ve got a nice long list to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks. Thank you so much, honestly this is a great site and if I get an A it’ll be thanks to you.
Muchas gracias,
El Profesor.
